Description
Apple Pie Dumplings are warm, flaky pastry-wrapped apple wedges baked in a buttery cinnamon syrup and topped with a sweet glaze. This comforting dessert tastes just like classic apple pie in an easy-to-make handheld form.
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled and cut into 8 wedges each
- 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Separate crescent roll dough into triangles.
- Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll up tightly. Arrange in the prepared dish.
- In a bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until combined.
- Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings.
- Carefully pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the dish (not directly over the tops).
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Spoon sauce over dumplings when serving.
Notes
- Granny Smith apples work well for a tart flavor.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for best results.
- Do not stir the soda after pouring; it creates the sauce while baking.
- Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
