Description

Apple Pie Dumplings are warm, flaky pastry-wrapped apple wedges baked in a buttery cinnamon syrup and topped with a sweet glaze. This comforting dessert tastes just like classic apple pie in an easy-to-make handheld form.

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled and cut into 8 wedges each
  • 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Separate crescent roll dough into triangles.
  3. Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll up tightly. Arrange in the prepared dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until combined.
  5. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings.
  6. Carefully pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the dish (not directly over the tops).
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Spoon sauce over dumplings when serving.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples work well for a tart flavor.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for best results.
  • Do not stir the soda after pouring; it creates the sauce while baking.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
