Description
A hearty Cheddar Bay beef cobbler made with savory seasoned ground beef in a rich sauce, topped with fluffy cheddar biscuit dough inspired by classic Cheddar Bay biscuits.
Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 2 cups Cheddar Bay biscuit mix
- 3/4 cup milk (for biscuit topping)
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned; season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Stir in beef broth and milk, then simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Transfer beef mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with milk and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Spoon biscuit batter evenly over the beef mixture.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until biscuit topping is golden and cooked through.
- Brush top with melted butter mixed with garlic powder.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overmix the biscuit topping to keep it fluffy.
- Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
