Description

A hearty Cheddar Bay beef cobbler made with savory seasoned ground beef in a rich sauce, topped with fluffy cheddar biscuit dough inspired by classic Cheddar Bay biscuits.


Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 cups Cheddar Bay biscuit mix
  • 3/4 cup milk (for biscuit topping)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned; season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  6. Stir in beef broth and milk, then simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Transfer beef mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  8. In a bowl, mix Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with milk and shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Spoon biscuit batter evenly over the beef mixture.
  10. Bake for 30–35 minutes until biscuit topping is golden and cooked through.
  11. Brush top with melted butter mixed with garlic powder.
  12. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the biscuit topping to keep it fluffy.
  • Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
