Description
An easy and indulgent dessert made with cherry pie filling, chocolate cake mix, and melted butter that bakes into a rich, gooey dump cake with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 1 can (21 oz / 595 g) cherry pie filling
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Optional topping: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherry filling.
- Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much surface as possible.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top if using.
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until the top is set and slightly crisp.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Do not mix the layers—dump cakes work best when layered.
- For extra richness, add chopped nuts on top before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days.
