Description

An easy and indulgent dessert made with cherry pie filling, chocolate cake mix, and melted butter that bakes into a rich, gooey dump cake with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (21 oz / 595 g) cherry pie filling
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • Optional topping: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherry filling.
  4. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much surface as possible.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top if using.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until the top is set and slightly crisp.
  7. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
  8. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Do not mix the layers—dump cakes work best when layered.
  • For extra richness, add chopped nuts on top before baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days.
