Description

Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce is a flavorful Middle Eastern dish made with spiced, marinated chicken that is grilled or pan-cooked and served with a creamy, tangy garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 500 g boneless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, and all spices.
  2. Add sliced chicken and coat well. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Heat a pan or grill over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the chicken for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, yogurt, grated garlic, and lemon juice to make the garlic sauce.
  6. Serve the chicken hot with garlic sauce on the side or drizzled on top.

Notes

  • Chicken breasts can be used instead of thighs.
  • Serve with pita bread, rice, or salad.
  • Marinating overnight enhances flavor.
