Description
Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce is a flavorful Middle Eastern dish made with spiced, marinated chicken that is grilled or pan-cooked and served with a creamy, tangy garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 500 g boneless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 0.5 tsp turmeric
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 0.5 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (for sauce)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, and all spices.
- Add sliced chicken and coat well. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Heat a pan or grill over medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, yogurt, grated garlic, and lemon juice to make the garlic sauce.
- Serve the chicken hot with garlic sauce on the side or drizzled on top.
Notes
- Chicken breasts can be used instead of thighs.
- Serve with pita bread, rice, or salad.
- Marinating overnight enhances flavor.
