Description
Chinese Beef and Onion Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender slices of beef and sweet caramelized onions tossed in a savory soy-based sauce.
Ingredients
- 450 g beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, combine oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, water, and sugar. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or skillet over high heat.
- Add beef in a single layer and stir fry for 1–2 minutes until just browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the wok.
- Stir fry onions until slightly softened but still crisp.
- Add garlic and ginger, cooking briefly until fragrant.
- Return beef to the wok and pour in prepared sauce.
- Stir fry for another 1–2 minutes until everything is well coated and cooked through.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
Notes
- Slice beef thinly for tenderness.
- Do not overcook to keep beef juicy.
- Add bell peppers or scallions for extra color and flavor.
