Ingredients
- 1 unbaked pie crust
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Optional: ground nutmeg for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
- Place the unbaked pie crust into a pie dish and crimp the edges.
- In a bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add eggs and whisk until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in milk and vanilla extract.
- Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Dot the surface with small pieces of butter.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the center is set but slightly jiggly.
- Remove from oven and cool completely before slicing.
- Sprinkle with nutmeg if desired before serving.
Notes
- Allow the pie to cool fully to help the custard set.
- Do not overbake to avoid curdling.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
