Description
A homemade version of Taco Bell’s iconic Mexican pizza, featuring crispy tortillas layered with seasoned beef, refried beans, melted cheese, and tangy salsa, all baked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 4 flour tortillas
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning)
- 1/2 cup refried beans
- 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1/2 cup salsa (mild or hot)
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for topping)
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)
- 1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional, for garnish)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat and stir in taco seasoning, adding a small amount of water as directed on the seasoning packet. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Heat a small amount of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Lightly fry each tortilla for 1–2 minutes per side until crispy, then drain on paper towels.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
- Spread a thin layer of refried beans on each fried tortilla.
- Top with a layer of seasoned beef, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Place a second tortilla on top of each pizza, then repeat with beans, beef, and cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 8–10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and top with salsa, sour cream, green onions, and diced tomatoes (optional).
- Slice into quarters and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add jalapeños or other toppings like lettuce or olives.
- Use corn tortillas for a more traditional, crispy crust.
- These are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
