Ingredients
- 12 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cooked chicken breast, diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and add diced chicken. Season with black pepper and cook until heated through.
- Stir in honey and soy sauce, allowing the sauce to simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Add cheddar, mozzarella, garlic powder, and salt. Stir until cheese is fully melted and smooth.
- Fold cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until evenly coated.
- Top mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken and gently stir or leave layered on top before serving.
