Description

Ultra-juicy smash burgers cooked until crispy and layered inside buttery, toasted croissants with melted cheese and classic burger toppings for an indulgent twist on a favorite.


Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef (80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 croissants, sliced horizontally
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting croissants)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard


Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
  2. Divide ground beef into 4 loose balls and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place beef balls on the hot surface and smash flat using a spatula.
  4. Cook for 2–3 minutes until crispy, flip, add cheese, and cook 1–2 minutes more.
  5. Remove burgers and set aside.
  6. Butter the cut sides of the croissants and toast in the skillet until golden.
  7. Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to make burger sauce.
  8. Assemble burgers: croissant bottom, sauce, lettuce, smash patty, onion, tomato, and croissant top.
  9. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Do not overwork the beef for the juiciest burgers.
  • Croissants toast quickly—watch carefully.
  • Add pickles or caramelized onions if desired.
