Description
Ultra-juicy smash burgers cooked until crispy and layered inside buttery, toasted croissants with melted cheese and classic burger toppings for an indulgent twist on a favorite.
Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef (80/20 fat ratio)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 croissants, sliced horizontally
- 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting croissants)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 4 slices tomato
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
- Divide ground beef into 4 loose balls and season with salt and pepper.
- Place beef balls on the hot surface and smash flat using a spatula.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until crispy, flip, add cheese, and cook 1–2 minutes more.
- Remove burgers and set aside.
- Butter the cut sides of the croissants and toast in the skillet until golden.
- Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to make burger sauce.
- Assemble burgers: croissant bottom, sauce, lettuce, smash patty, onion, tomato, and croissant top.
- Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Do not overwork the beef for the juiciest burgers.
- Croissants toast quickly—watch carefully.
