Description
A hearty deep-dish savory pie packed with seasoned hamburger, sausage, and pepperoni layered with cheese in a rich, comforting baked casserole-style pie.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1/2 lb (225 g) Italian sausage (halal), casings removed
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni (halal)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 refrigerated pie crust or homemade crust
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a deep-dish pie pan.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef and sausage, cook until browned; drain excess fat.
- Stir in salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and marinara sauce. Simmer 5 minutes.
- Press pie crust into the prepared dish.
- Layer half of the meat mixture into the crust.
- Add half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
- Layer pepperoni evenly over the cheese.
- Add remaining meat mixture and top with remaining cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs and milk; pour evenly over the pie.
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until set and golden.
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Letting the pie rest helps it set for clean slices.
- Serve with a simple green salad.
- Leftovers reheat well in the oven.
