Description
Dragon Chicken is a bold and spicy Indo-Chinese dish featuring crispy fried chicken strips tossed in a fiery garlic-chili sauce with bell peppers and onions.
Ingredients
- 500 g boneless chicken breast, cut into strips
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
- 2 tbsp oil (for sauce)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 dried red chilies
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp chili sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp chopped green onions
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chicken with egg, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and black pepper.
- Add cornstarch and flour, mixing to coat evenly.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) and fry chicken strips until golden and crispy. Drain and set aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok over medium heat.
- Add garlic and dried red chilies; sauté until fragrant.
- Add sliced onion and bell pepper; stir fry for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in soy sauce, chili sauce, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and water.
- Simmer briefly until sauce thickens slightly.
- Add fried chicken and toss well to coat evenly.
- Cook for 1–2 minutes until well combined.
- Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
Notes
- Adjust chili sauce for desired spice level.
- Serve immediately for best crisp texture.
