Description

Frutti di Mare is a classic Italian seafood pasta featuring a medley of shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari simmered in a light garlic tomato sauce and tossed with al dente pasta. Fresh, flavorful, and perfect for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz linguine or spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 1/2 lb clams, cleaned
  • 1/2 lb calamari rings
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water and drain.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in white wine and simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add clams and mussels, cover, and cook for 4–5 minutes until they begin to open.
  6. Stir in shrimp and calamari; cook for 3–4 minutes until shrimp are pink and seafood is cooked through. Discard any unopened shells.
  7. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
  8. Season with salt and pepper, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Use the freshest seafood available for best flavor.
  • Do not overcook seafood to keep it tender.
  • You can substitute tomato sauce with a white wine and olive oil base for a lighter version.
  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
