Description
Soft, fluffy homemade cinnamon rolls swirled with a rich cinnamon-sugar filling and topped with a smooth vanilla cream cheese glaze, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk until lukewarm and mix with yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll tightly into a log and cut into equal-sized rolls.
- Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
- Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread glaze over warm cinnamon rolls and serve.
Notes
- For extra softness, avoid adding too much flour to the dough.
- You can prepare the rolls the night before and refrigerate before the second rise.
