Description

An ultra-rich and decadent chocolate cake layered with smooth chocolate fudge frosting, delivering deep cocoa flavor and a moist, indulgent texture perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee or hot water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
  4. Slowly mix in the hot coffee or hot water until the batter is thin and well combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the frosting, melt butter in a saucepan and stir in cocoa powder.
  9. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and spreadable.
  10. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a thick layer of frosting on top.
  11. Add the second cake layer and frost the top and sides evenly.
  12. Let the frosting set slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Hot coffee enhances the chocolate flavor without making the cake taste like coffee.
  • You can add chocolate chips to the batter for extra richness.
  • Store the cake covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
