Description

Fluffy cheddar bay biscuits stuffed with savory crab filling and finished with a zesty lemon butter drizzle, creating a rich seafood appetizer inspired by restaurant-style biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 lb (225 g) lump crab meat
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp chopped green onions
  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for lemon butter)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (for butter topping)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Add buttermilk and mix until a soft dough forms.
  6. In another bowl, combine crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, green onions, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice to make the filling.
  7. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of biscuit dough and flatten slightly.
  8. Add about 1 tablespoon of crab filling in the center and cover with another small piece of dough, sealing the edges.
  9. Place the stuffed biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Mix melted butter, lemon zest, garlic powder, and parsley to make the lemon butter.
  12. Drizzle the warm biscuits with the lemon butter before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh lump crab meat for the best flavor and texture.
  • Avoid overmixing the dough to keep the biscuits light and fluffy.
  • You can substitute imitation crab if needed.
  • Serve warm for the best taste.
