Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 lb (225 g) lump crab meat
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp chopped green onions
- 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for lemon butter)
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (for butter topping)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add buttermilk and mix until a soft dough forms.
- In another bowl, combine crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, green onions, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice to make the filling.
- Scoop about 2 tablespoons of biscuit dough and flatten slightly.
- Add about 1 tablespoon of crab filling in the center and cover with another small piece of dough, sealing the edges.
- Place the stuffed biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix melted butter, lemon zest, garlic powder, and parsley to make the lemon butter.
- Drizzle the warm biscuits with the lemon butter before serving.
