Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Oil for frying
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
- Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Prepare dredging stations: beaten eggs in one bowl and flour mixed with cornstarch in another.
- Dip chicken into egg, then coat in flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes until crispy and golden. Remove and drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, lemon zest, and brown sugar. Simmer.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens.
- Toss fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish and serve immediately.
