Description
A warm and crispy panini filled with sliced turkey, basil pesto, melted cheese, and fresh tomatoes pressed between golden toasted bread for a flavorful and satisfying sandwich.
Ingredients
- 4 slices ciabatta bread or sourdough bread
- 6 oz sliced turkey breast
- 3 tbsp basil pesto
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Optional: a handful of fresh spinach or arugula
Instructions
- Preheat a panini press or skillet over medium heat.
- Spread basil pesto evenly on the inside of each slice of bread.
- Layer turkey slices, mozzarella cheese, tomato slices, and spinach or arugula if using on two slices of bread.
- Sprinkle with black pepper and close the sandwiches with the remaining bread slices.
- Lightly spread butter or brush olive oil on the outside of the bread.
- Place the sandwiches in the panini press and cook for 4–6 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- If using a skillet, press the sandwich with a spatula and flip halfway through cooking.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- Ciabatta bread gives the best crispy texture, but sourdough or focaccia also works well.
- Add roasted red peppers for extra flavor.
- Use smoked turkey for a deeper taste.
- Serve with soup, salad, or chips for a complete meal.
