Description

Italian Sushi is a creative fusion dish that replaces traditional sushi elements with Italian ingredients like cured meats, cheese, and vegetables, rolled into bite-sized pieces for a fresh and flavorful twist.

Ingredients

  • 4 large tortillas or flatbreads
  • 200 g cream cheese or ricotta
  • 100 g sliced prosciutto or salami
  • 100 g fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup arugula
  • 2 tablespoons pesto sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Lay tortillas or flatbreads flat on a clean surface.
  2. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese or ricotta evenly over each.
  3. Layer prosciutto or salami, mozzarella slices, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, and arugula.
  4. Drizzle pesto and a little olive oil over the fillings.
  5. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape.
  7. Slice into bite-sized rounds resembling sushi pieces.
  8. Arrange on a platter and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh, soft tortillas for easier rolling.
  • Chill rolls for 15–20 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • You can substitute meats with grilled vegetables for a vegetarian version.
  • Serve with balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
