Description
A luxurious seafood dish featuring tender shrimp and fresh mussels simmered in a rich, creamy garlic sauce with herbs and a hint of lemon. Perfect served with crusty bread or pasta for a comforting and elegant meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb mussels, cleaned and debearded
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion or shallot, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion or shallot and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink. Remove and set aside.
- Add mussels to the skillet along with broth. Cover and cook for 5–7 minutes until mussels open. Discard any that do not open.
- Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Return shrimp to the skillet and simmer for 2–3 minutes until heated through and sauce thickens slightly.
- Stir in lemon juice and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Serve hot with crusty bread, rice, or pasta.

- Always discard mussels that remain closed after cooking.
- Use fresh seafood for best flavor and texture.
- Adjust cream quantity for a lighter or richer sauce.
- White wine can replace part of the broth for extra depth of flavor.
