Description

A luxurious seafood dish featuring tender shrimp and fresh mussels simmered in a rich, creamy garlic sauce with herbs and a hint of lemon. Perfect served with crusty bread or pasta for a comforting and elegant meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion or shallot, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion or shallot and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add mussels to the skillet along with broth. Cover and cook for 5–7 minutes until mussels open. Discard any that do not open.
  6. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  7. Return shrimp to the skillet and simmer for 2–3 minutes until heated through and sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Stir in lemon juice and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  9. Serve hot with crusty bread, rice, or pasta.

Notes

  • Always discard mussels that remain closed after cooking.
  • Use fresh seafood for best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust cream quantity for a lighter or richer sauce.
  • White wine can replace part of the broth for extra depth of flavor.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the best texture of seafood.
