Description

Juicy homemade meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce—classic comfort food that’s flavorful, hearty, and perfect with pasta, rice, or bread.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, parmesan, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  2. Mix gently and form into small meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, pour in tomato sauce and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add sugar and chili flakes if using.
  7. Return meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked.
  8. Stir occasionally and adjust seasoning if needed.
  9. Garnish with extra parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to keep meatballs tender.
  • You can use a mix of beef and lamb for extra flavor.
  • Serve with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
  • Add a splash of cream for a richer sauce.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
