Ingredients
- 300 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 300 g white fish (cod or haddock), cut into chunks
- 200 g scallops (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
- In a pan, melt butter and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk and cream, cooking until the sauce thickens.
- Add Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, salt, and pepper, stirring until smooth.
- Add seafood (shrimp, fish, scallops) and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly opaque.
- Transfer mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly.
- Top with shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, parsley, and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use a mix of seafood for best flavor and texture.
- Do not overcook seafood before baking.
- Add white wine to the sauce for extra depth.
- Serve with crusty bread or a fresh salad.
