Description

Rich and Cheesy Seafood Gratin is a luxurious baked dish featuring tender seafood in a creamy sauce topped with melted cheese and a golden crispy crust.


Ingredients

  • 300 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 300 g white fish (cod or haddock), cut into chunks
  • 200 g scallops (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a pan, melt butter and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, salt, and pepper, stirring until smooth.
  6. Add seafood (shrimp, fish, scallops) and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly opaque.
  7. Transfer mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Top with shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, parsley, and drizzle with olive oil.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

  • Use a mix of seafood for best flavor and texture.
  • Do not overcook seafood before baking.
  • Add white wine to the sauce for extra depth.
  • Serve with crusty bread or a fresh salad.
