Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is a classic sandwich made with thinly sliced steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and melted cheese, all served in a warm hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 hoagie rolls
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  3. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the thinly sliced steak.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  6. Cook the steak for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  7. Return the sautéed onions and peppers to the skillet and mix with the steak.
  8. Divide the steak mixture into two portions and place provolone cheese slices on top.
  9. Allow the cheese to melt, then transfer the mixture into the hoagie rolls.
  10. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Freezing the steak for about 30 minutes makes it easier to slice thinly.
  • You can substitute provolone with American cheese or cheese sauce.
  • Lightly toast the hoagie rolls for extra texture.
  • Mushrooms can be added for additional flavor.
