Description
Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is a classic sandwich made with thinly sliced steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and melted cheese, all served in a warm hoagie roll.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 2 hoagie rolls
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onion and bell pepper and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the thinly sliced steak.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Cook the steak for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
- Return the sautéed onions and peppers to the skillet and mix with the steak.
- Divide the steak mixture into two portions and place provolone cheese slices on top.
- Allow the cheese to melt, then transfer the mixture into the hoagie rolls.
- Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Freezing the steak for about 30 minutes makes it easier to slice thinly.
- You can substitute provolone with American cheese or cheese sauce.
- Lightly toast the hoagie rolls for extra texture.
- Mushrooms can be added for additional flavor.
